Our story began in 1801, when James Wyld founded the business in Edinburgh. It became Crabbie & Cree in 1836 and John Crabbie Ltd in 1840, a company that stillexists today. John Crabbie spent 60 years in whisky as a merchant, master blender and pioneer of blended Scotch.
Today our Bonnington Distillery in Edinburgh runs 24/7, with bespoke squat-neck stills inspired by Crabbie’s own 1860s stills for a richer, more Highland style of spirit. We bottle at Granton, Edinburgh, and mature our casks at Kirkcaldy, Fife.
